Make the kitchen work better
A kitchen scope can include cabinetry, counters, lighting, flooring, appliance placement, and the way the room opens to adjacent living spaces. The right plan begins with how the household cooks, gathers, and moves through the room.
Start with workflow before finishes
Document how the kitchen is used on an ordinary day: where groceries arrive, where food is prepared, how people pass through the room, and which doors or appliances create conflicts. Decide whether the project is primarily a finish update, a reconfiguration within the existing room, or a connected-space renovation involving walls, openings, and adjacent flooring.
Cabinetry, counters, appliances, ventilation, lighting, plumbing, and electrical work must agree with the same layout. Appliance dimensions and door swings should be confirmed before cabinetry is finalized. Storage is more useful when it is assigned by activity and reach than when the plan is judged only by the number of cabinets.
Define the construction questions early
Moving a sink, cooktop, ventilation route, wall, doorway, or large electrical load can change the professional and permit review needed. In a strata, the bylaws may also address flooring, plumbing, working hours, elevator use, and protection of common areas. List these constraints alongside the desired layout so they are not discovered after selections are made.
